numerous city parks available for your enjoyment. Two state parks - Fox
Ridge and Walnut Point State Parks are just a short drive from either
Mattoon or Charleston.
Need to cool off? Visit any of the three public
swimming pools.
Tee times aren't hard to come by at most of the
public golf courses. For the kid in your family, tee up at a miniature

Fox Ridge State Park

Fox Ridge State Park is known for its steep, thickly wooded ridges, broad,
lush valleys and miles of rugged, scenic hiking trails and covers 1,632
acres.In sharp contrast to the flat prairies of most of this section of
Illinois, Fox Ridge is set amidst rolling hills along the forested bluffs
of the Embarras River. At any time of year, Fox Ridge State Park is a
great place to visit. Activities including hiking, picnicking, fishing,
boating, limited hunting and camping.

The parks 451-acres surround a 59-acre lake with 6.3 miles of shoreline.
